Upcoming Nvidia chip delayed due to major problems

Published:

Exclusive: Blame for everyone but Nvidia, currently no fix

Nvidia has a serious issue with an upcoming chip and they are blaming everyone but themselves. SemiAccurate has seen this pattern with delays before and this time is no different.

This new problem with an upcoming chip is serious and has delayed the device by months so far with no fix in sight. Nvidia is blaming partners as is their normal deflection routine but this time they are also trashing Microsoft as well, that part is new. Then again as long as you are not Nvidia, the blame is yours for their faults.

If you recall the Fermi debacle where they publicly trashed TSMC and made Morris apologize for failing Nvidia. The problem was the design of the Fermi memory bus, NOT the process, but publicly ‘TSMC screwed up‘. They also ‘failed Nvidia’ with the packaging of HBM, again another design issue blamed on TSMC. We could go as far back as Tegra 2 with more examples, never Nvidia’s fault of course but we won’t bore you with the list.

This time around it is almost assuredly Nvidia’s fault but there is a slim window of doubt. This problem currently has no fix and fingers are being pointed at multiple external parties. What is the chip and what is the problem?
